Our Resident Great Blue Heron
Our Resident Great Blue Heron

Summer at Healey Lake Lodge is our most fun-filled season. All the vacation activities that you may want to try are available at Healey Lake Lodge, on Healey Lake waters or can be arranged nearby. From quietly relaxing with a good book under a whispering maple tree to challenging your mountain biking skills through rugged trails - there's always something to do. How about a friendly game of horseshoes? ...or badminton? ...meet other cottage guests ...paddle a canoe to the peaceful Conger Creek and watch Mother Nature at her best - perhaps take a photograph of a busy beaver or a Great Blue Heron amidst a colourful patch of white and yellow lily pads.

» Build a sand castle

We have a safe sandy play area for the children in direct view from your cottage. With a slide, swings, climbing gym, child-size plastic chairs and table, the young children feel at home right away. Our sand beach and weed-free sand bottom swimming area is especially inviting; it is shallow enough for children at the shoreline yet deep enough for an adult diving platform at the end of the dock. Additionally, Healey Lake generally maintains a comfortably warm temperature, has a clarity depth of ten feet and is environmentally healthy and clean.

» Lace up those hiking shoes

Healey Lake Lodge property borders thousands of acres of crown land with an incredible variety of native species, from cheerful songbirds to sun-bathing turtles, majestic moose to mischievous chipmunks, towering white pines to perfect blue violets. Hike to a "secret" lake, or to the top of rolling ridges with mile wide views.

» Take a trail ride

Bring your mountain or trials bike or walk our local recreational trails. These are easily accessible from our Lodge and offer excellent hiking or biking opportunities through crown land with the reassurance of an established trail.

» Take the kids fishing

It's easy to catch fish at Healey Lake Lodge. Toss a line out to exciting panfish such as rock bass, sunfish, bluegill, perch and crappie right off our docks. Our fat, perky bait worms produce great results. Large and small mouth bass are our most abundant sport fish, as well as northern pike up to 14 pounds to satisfy the demanding fisher person. Smelts, suckers and catfish are also present. We believe in and promote live release, and encourage photography.

» Take a boat ride

We offer affordable 14' and 16' aluminum boat rentals or bring your own. This is a perfect way to find your favourite fishing spot or just explore the beauty of Healey Lake. Pack a picnic and we can show you where to have a shore lunch for an enjoyable afternoon or where to find the abandoned pioneer gold mine! Take a leisurely paddle boat or canoe ride around our calm bay. A small rental fee is required and includes safety equipment and life jackets.

» Take a scenic day trip

Enjoy an unhurried day trip to our nearby vacation towns, or we can advise on scenic "back road" trips to really see all that Muskoka, Georgian Bay and Parry Sound have to offer. Summer brings longer days and country hayfields as well as seasonal boutiques, antique and artists' shops filled with unique products. We are approximately 30 minutes to the towns of Parry Sound, Port Carling or Bala and about 50 minutes to Bracebridge, Gravenhurst or Rosseau.

» Take the family out for a game of tennis or golf

We are only 10 minutes away from the casual 'pay-as-you-play' Healey Lake outdoor tennis courts and 20 - 40 minutes from several distinctive public golf courses and driving ranges. We can assist with arrangements.

October Morning View from our Cottages
October Morning View from our Cottages

From September through to Thanksgiving most summer activities are still in full swing including fishing, golf, canoeing, hiking and ATV riding. Our trees are beginning their dramatic change from deep greens to their world famous reds, golds and oranges. These are perhaps the most beautiful days of the year at Healey Lake Lodge and our cottages with gas fireplaces add a touch of evening romance. Combine this with the increased activity of whitetail deer, moose and migrating birds for endless photography opportunities.

» Thanksgiving

Mid-October is when the fall colours peak, and makes for a great Thanksgiving atmosphere. Some of our more adventurous guests have even cooked their entire Thanksgiving dinner over our outdoor campfire for a truly unique experience.

» Day Trips

Autumn is our most picturesque time to plan a day trip. Each corner on our winding roads brings a new blaze of multi-coloured trees, puffy white clouds or perfect reflections on calm blue lakes. Many of our towns and communities hold fall fairs in September - plan to attend one.

We are approximately 30 minutes to the towns of Parry Sound, Port Carling or Bala and about 50 minutes to Bracebridge, Gravenhurst or Rosseau. Check our Area Links for more information.

Snowmobilers are always welcome at Healey Lake Lodge
Snowmobilers are always welcome

Healey Lake Lodge is open all season and welcomes winter enthusiasts. Our Lodge and winterized cottages with gas fireplaces are an excellent centre for all your winter activities. We are on the end of a year-round road with ample parking and easy access.

» Snowmobiling

Snowmobilers are minutes from OFSC Trail C or the less travelled, scenic, local Six Star Club trails. For snowmobilers without OFSC trail passes we have miles of local ungroomed cross-country trails, some over ice and swamps that present the 'old style' riding challenges. Bring your sleds and go riding.

From beginner to expert, our varied terrain offers wonderful snowshoe or cross-country ski adventure. We are surrounded by unmarked crown land with enough township roads, power lines and lakes to keep you comfortably orientated.
